Track and Field

First topic message reminder :
The Track and Field
The dirt road leads from the Campus grounds to a shoddy building that houses the small wooden floor gym. Various lockers and lodging sits between the entrance and the field itself a large green section sits at the center of the red track. Stands for fans sit around the track, though it has typically been empty due to the limited amount of sorcerers and people knowledgeable of their exploits. The Field has multipurpose use and is one of the largest most open areas present.

“You lot are right on time. How you choose to limber up is on you guys,” Majin said, his voice slicing through Taikutsuna’s dissociation.
Taiku sprang from her crouched position, head swiveling in the male’s direction. Her expression was blank, but her enthusiasm was reflected in her frantic anticipation. As Majin spoke, the vacancy in her expression was quickly occupied by a surprisingly complacent grin. It was as if she almost reveled in the idea of fighting one of her peers. Quite frankly, she couldn’t say she wasn’t looking forward to it.
For the record, fighting Okiku hadn’t been on her to-do-list, but, now, it was definitely up there. And, Majin had given her the idea on a silver platter! The opportunity was there—she was taking it.
“I was born ready!” she exclaimed in response to her teammate, offering an enthusiastic thumbs up. “I’ll give you my best! Or, worse, if you want to take it that way.”
Taiku slipped into the “arena,” eyes gleaming. I wonder how Okiku will do...this will be fun!
Upon hearing Okiku’s final exclamation, she quickly added on, saying, “Yeah, the awesomest! As in, the superlative form of awesome!”

At last, finally, both players took their place at the center. Taiku Vs Okiku. In truth, they seemed pretty lax. A little too relaxed. Their stances were very awkward and plain. They didn't have the battle-readiness he would assume. However, their words were another matter. They seemed somewhat excited. Though Majin wanted to test their strength against one another. He also wanted to see If they could face one another seriously at all. A sorcerer must be their for their allies. But they must also be prepared for allies to suddenly become enemies. Thus is the way of jujutsu. In many ways, nothing ever was at it seemed. Taking a step forward, Majin raises his arm high into the air. He trails his eyes from both students.
"REAAADY!!!!!!."
His voice carries against the wind like a bomb. It was enough to make anyone stand up straight. The air became still and stuffy for just a moment. And he paused. There was a dense silence. It permeated the minds of everyone's presence. And then a gust of wind came once more to add sound and motion.
"HAJIME!!!!!!!!!!"
his hand thrust downward, allowing the two to begin their squabble. Training had finally begun.

Begin!
Track and Field—Okiku Ito
Now stood infront of eachother, a spar moments away, Okiku already had a good idea of who his opponent was. It'd already been decided he wasn't going to pull any punches—figuring Taiku would feel no less ready to do the same. He tied off the knotted jacket from his waist, pulling it away and throwing it off to the side. The eyes of the spectators found Okiku's settling movements to a battle ready stance seemless. It was reminiscent of a boxer's stance, his weight put slightly forward on his left. Surely this was more the kind of excitement Majin was prepared to see. His left hand remained pushed infront of his torso as his right was still near his chin
Three feet apart, Okiku stood infront of Taiku. Majin raised his hand in preparation.
"REAAADY!!!!!!"
His already balled fists tightened and his breathing steadied as he gathered air in his frame.
"HAJIME!!!!!!!!!!"
'Begin!' Thought Okiku, in his impression of Majin's own voice. So—without hesitation he had started. A brief half-step forward later, led by his left with his right dragging itself behind, he was within his own range of attack. If his speed was put against Taiku's, it was definite that his would be in the lead. It was as though the moment Majin's hand cut the air, Okiku's fist swallowed her vision. The jab was launched as a means of sizing up his opponent's general reaction but its strength was undeniable. Just as this was happening, the noise of his sharp exhaling could be heard.

Taiku, abruptly, displayed some confusion.
"Ten yards," she mumbled to herself. "How long are ten yards?"
Shaking her head, she returned to the task ahead. Daunting or otherwise, she couldn't pass up an opportunity like this! Even if she lost, it would be fun. Fighting Okiku was now at the top of her priority list, and, for once, she managed to focus on it for longer than thirty seconds. Almost involuntarily, she found herself slipping into a peek-a-boo stance—her fists hugged her cheeks and her arms pressed against her torso, forming into a tight defense. The world slowed to a stop as Majin raised his arm, and Taikutsuna's eyes locked on her opponent.
Know who you are, Taikutsuna.
Know where you're going, and where you're from.
Amen. Amen. Amen.
As if a gunshot had been fired, Majin's hand plunged, and Okiku was on the move. His fist swelled in her vision, exploding like dynamite. However, with Taiku's eyes fixated on her opposition, she was capable of registering the male's intent—though it'd been way faster than she anticipated. Her hand sliced through the air as if her knuckles were made of knives, parrying the jab to her left. Upon doing so, Okiku's lead side would be completely open, allowing her to throw a rear hook.

The two fighters became locked in an exchange. Okiku fires forth with vigor and sends a powerful jab at the young Girl Taiku. In response, she attempts to parry and throw a rear hook into the exchange. But what's this? Okikus strength was too great and overpowers her now loose guard. His fist collides effortlessly into the girls face, but in return her rear hook meets his chin. The two fly backward and out the ring, both out cold. What an amazing display!

Majin stands there, somewhat stunned. He did not know whether to be amazed or crushed by what he had just seen. On one hand, he saw to children knock each other out cold at the same time. But on the other hand...something was missing from this exchange. His face dulls and his eyes narrow for a moment. He releases an exhale and turns around to see who was left. Ao Ryu, and Nagi Seijuro. They seemed like a decent match-up. Majin had hoped to observe the other students. To watch their movements and growth, but was met with disappointment once more.
"Well. Ao, Nagi. It's your guys' turn now. Step in the ring and take your positions."
Majin's arms cross over his chest as he waits for the two to ready themselves. It had been an uneventful day so far. Maybe he had made a mistake wasting his time like this. Ah well. He still got paid by the hour anyway. Above them, the subtle rains begin to lessen moment by moment as a large part in the clouds forms allowing a warm swath of light to break down around where the small group of students remained. Outside the ring, Okiku and Taiku's lifeless bodies remain unconscious.
"Don't worry about those two someone will come to pick them up eventually. Try not to step on them if u get knocked out."

Nagi had been looking on as the two individuals made their way into the designated area they'd be fighting within. As they did this the taller Nagi would move to a spot where he could have the best view of the match. Once the boy had reached his destination, he would proceed to take a seat sitting cross-legged with his chin resting on his right hand. At this exact moment, Nagi was focusing on the two competitors, so that the moment they began he'd be completely focused and dialled in on what was happening. Unfortunately for the young heir to the Seijuro Clan, as soon the fight between Okiku and Taiku would begin it would soon become apparent that there wasn't much to see as they simply threw some punches and ended the fight in a rather lackluster double knockout. "Crap, how am I going to learn about the others skills if they just knock each other out that easily," Thought Nagi within his own head as he waited for Majin's reaction.
As Nagi waited he would quickly find the waiting being quickly ended as Majin would soon announce the next match up. Within the next match up it would seem that Nagi himself would be up against one of Majin sensei's own clansmen the bald-headed boy named Ao Ryu. "This is gonna be interesting. I don't know anything about you so it'll be a good opportunity to get an idea of how you fight," said Nagi as he stood up taking a moment to do a few more stretches before making his way to the arena leaving his bag on the ground where he had been sitting. As Nagi made his way into the ring he stepped around the unconscious bodies of his fellow students as he made his way to the centre of the arena to prepare for this fight as Nagi had no clue at all to the skills and or capabilities of Ao Ryu. "Hey Ao, good luck," said Nagi as he took his fighting position, ready to go at a moments notice.

As the two students collapsed, each reeling from the impact, Ao laughed, and then frowned. He exhaled, partly as a gasp, partly as a sigh, partly as a release of tension, like he had been holding his breath for their whole confrontation and was somehow physically invested in it himself. He had expected much more advanced endurance from his peers, or at least a spar with a little more complexity and strategy -- a jab or two more, even. Their identically-primitive approaches to the challenge surprised him, but also invoked a sort of awe. He marvelled -- even partially respected -- their pure and distilled approach to battle, their extreme simplification of combat. Never before had he seen such cleanly-executed brutality, let alone exchanged mutually like this. And it only made him more curious. Were they just that powerful and similar in fighting style that their durability couldn't keep up? Or maybe they were sleepy or had yet to warm up, and weren't in an ample state for combat. Whatever the case, it was entertaining, he thought, even if only for the fleeting instant it had occurred. The match finished so swiftly he almost missed it by sneezing a split second before its start. And after it, he barely had time to form any more meaningful analysis or commentary on the exchange before Majin's voice resurged to the fore to announce the next matchup.
Giddy to start, Ao shifted quickly to take his place in the circle. He stared down at his hands and then fastened his gaze on Nagi. He didn't expect to be bested by him; rebounding from the exams his confidence had swelled; his muscles had been warmed up, re-polished, and now they whirred with adrenaline. On top of this, his opponent stood riddled with what could easily become yawning holes in his stance and multiple points Ao knew he could easily manipulate without even straying from his few most familiar fighting styles. He couldn't deny that it interested him, though. Most of the stances he fought against in his training were those that had been hammered into a rigid, standardized mold, all of which had since slurred together in his mind. They were conservative, always too tight or too loose in a painfully-noncommittal and fumbling way. Nagi's stance, though, seemed different, at least on the surface level. Ragged intuition, raw personal experience, or simple desire for experimentation seemed to be all that informed his stance. And most importantly, though he had seen similar stances through study or media, Ao was far from used to actually fighting against it. His pale brows knit a wrinkled arc as he watched, curiosity and excitement bubbling so much within him his step donned a newfound bounce as he approached.
After evaluating Nagi for a couple seconds, Ao's plan and goal codified themselves in his mind. He would probe and study his peer for maybe a couple blows, and then make an attempt to highlight his fighting style’s flaws in a sweeping finish. With this decision he nodded to himself, pleased by his confidence. He rubbed his palm in an exaggerated motion over his dripping head again to brush away the raindrops, as if combing back an invisible mane.
Settled on his approach, Ao turned to his cousin Majin.
“So if I just push his toe or something out onto the ground outside of the circle, do I win? Or does it have to be his whole body outside?” he asked, rolling his shoulders back to loosen them, balling his fists again and again, and shifting his weight from foot to foot in an obscure rhythm until the motion felt as routine and natural as the beating of his heart. “Other than that, I’m ready.” He leaned slightly in with his left facing Nagi and his chin tucked. He swung his arms up with the elbows at the bottoms of their respective sides of his rib cage. Each hand lay limp guarding his upper body, hovering inches from his left collarbone. His feet bounced and vacillated without leaving the floor or compromising their balance, shifting millimeters in each direction. And his upper body did the same, rocking minutely back and forth and side to side like a swaying ship, always moving but never toppled, anchored by his legs.
"Yeah. Good luck!"

This wasn't exactly the matchup Majin expected to make. The much smaller Ao Ryu compared to the tall and lanky Nagi would make for a true David vs Goliath-like scenario. Ao was roughly 5'6 inches and close to 130 lbs give or take a few pounds. Nagi however was a different story, standing at just six feet and 150-155. They had totally different builds. One thing Majin expected was Ao to use his advanced speed to get him through. See he was much like Majin. He lacked the gift of cursed energy in a world of sorcerers. Not to the same degree as Majin, but he would seldom be using any advanced jujutsu techniques to defeat any of his enemies. He had to rely on a swift hand and a well-placed knife in someone's neck. Still, here in this ring maybe things would be different.
Nagi readying himself for battle remarks on the battle that had just concluded.
"Crap, how am I going to learn about the others skills if they just knock each other out that easily,"
Majin would note this response, but offer him no words. Maybe there was a lesson in dedication. Or motivation. As far as Majin could tell..."Who knows...
"This is gonna be interesting. I don't know anything about you so it'll be a good opportunity to get an idea of how you fight."
Ao perks himself up next. His odd and out-there personality was welcome in an otherwise dull and lifeless environment. Most of the other students were still just kids after all.
“So if I just push his toe or something out onto the ground outside of the circle, do I win? Or does it have to be his whole body outside?”
He passes the bald-headed boy a narrow look. "Try for a whole foot at least. The moment one of you touches the outside with your foot or on your back. It's a set match. But I can also call it at any time if I feel I've seen enough. Got it?"
There is enough time for the two boys to acknowledge each other. Limber up and take their stances. Nagi keeps one a bit more loose, utilizing his large frame in a way that he can shift his weight with a step in or out. Ao takes a more still approach, tucking his arms close to his collar bone and keeping loose on his feet. He was prepared to press in and not wait. Majin Wondered how he would fare against the Seijuro's clan technique. Would Nagi even use it? Majin's arm raises high into the air once more. His eyes scan from left to right with his watchful eye.
His hand slices the air with a thunderous motion followed by the bellow of his voice.
"HAAAJIIIIMEEEE!!!!!"

As Nagi had made his way into the ring and taken his position, ready to go at the drop of the hat Nagi would hear the remarks of Ao Ryu who seemed to be asking how much of his opponent's body needed to be outside of the ring to end the match. It would have been a reasonable concern if he hadn't been so silly about saying it.
"Alright, if he's ready then I'm ready. Let's get this show on the road. Oh, and good luck to you too," said Nagi following suit as Ao had also declared his readiness.
After saying he was ready Nagi would begin to focus and lock in on Ao, he knew that unlike some of his more physically gifted classmates he himself was rather average. This meant that while others had it easy in a physical battle Nagi had to try a little harder. Once he had focused his attention on Ao he would hear the word he had been waiting for as Majin called out Hajime to signal the beginning of the match. As soon as Majin spoke Nagi didn't move he simply remained in place holding his ground waiting for his opponent to make the first move. Nagi's fighting style and cursed technique were more suited to defence and countering. Nagi waited to prepare for his opponent to make his move. The main reason Nagi didn't want to make the first move as well was so he could much easily gauge the strength and capabilities of Ao who he hadn't ever seen fight before.
